Each year, the Sherman Prize Board of Directors, guided by the Sherman Prize Selection Committee — six of the nation’s preeminent IBD researchers, clinicians and advocates representing diverse areas of expertise — chooses three individuals who go above and beyond to make exceptional, pioneering contributions and inspire tomorrow’s innovators in the fight to overcome Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
The financial prize is one of several important forms of recognition for Sherman Prize winners. Each recipient is recognized at an awards ceremony in the fall, where a documentary video about his or her extraordinary achievements will debut. The video, along with biographical information, will be posted on our website, and on our social media channels.
The Prizes are not lifetime achievement awards or grants — they are Prizes designed to recognize achievement and inspire excellence by supporting future work designated by the recipient.
